CRLT students work with Biology Program to kickstart the 1000 species in 1000 days Bio-Blitz

As part of their second year Program Design 1 Course, Students Finn, Heidy, McArthur and Matteo designed a program to introduce college students and staff to biodiversity on the ÆßÐDzʿª½± campus, the bioblitz program and inaturalist app.

CRLT Teacher Simeon Pompey recognized for his contribution to the college and community.

Community, Recreation and Leadership Training Teacher, Simeon Pompey, was nominated and selected by the Force Avenir Recognition program under the Committed Employee category. This recognition and his contribution to both the college and his community was recognized by Marc Garneau, Member of Parliament for NDG – Westmount.

CRLT Students lead Sustainable Happiness Workshop for Faculty and Staff pedagogical development

CRLT third year students as part of their Public Relations class created and led a workshop for Peace Certificate students on Sustainable Happiness. Faculty and staff members in attendance from the Peace Studies Community of Practice were so impressed, they asked the students to adapt the workshop for Faculty development.  The result was a first-ever student-led workshop during ÆßÐDzʿª½±’s Faculty Ped Day Program.

Student Environmental Service Project at Fall Outdoor Education Weekend

The CRLT Community spent a cumulative total of over 200 hours constructing erosion control barriers, rebuilding campfire pits and various other projects to improve long term sustainability at Camp Weredale as part of the 2019 Fall Outdoor Education Experience.

Students participate in workshop about Jobs in Peace as part of Peace Certificate Program

Second year students expanded their knowledge about Peace in our world and possible career directions by attending a presentation by David J. Smith, an invited guest of the ÆßÐDzʿª½± Peace Center. The focus of the workshop, the changing nature of work included discussion on the concepts of finding meaningful work, a concept directly linked to the college strategic goal of Well-Being for All. Students hope to collect 10,000 messages on the Peace Wall by September 13

Five years after its creation, CRLT students have revived the virtual Peace Wall in light of the 10 year commemorations of the events of September 13, 2006. Their goal is to collect a total of 10,000 peace messages (1,000 for each year since the 2006 tragedy) or a message from each of the 193 countries included in the United Nations.
