Course Description: The purpose of this course is to give the student the essentials of anatomy and physiology of all human body systems as they pertain to Radiation Oncology. The structure and function of cells are discussed with an emphasis on the cell cycle and cell division (mitosis and meiosis). All human anatomical systems are described concerning location, surface landmarks, and surrounding structures. The physiology of all systems is described with particular attention given to the skeletal, nervous, lymphatic, respiratory, digestive, and reproductive systems. |

Course Description: This course is designed to introduce aspects of the Radiation Oncology discipline at an elementary level. The Introduction to the Profession course is a planned educational experience designed to: analyze the profession, learn to work in a health care environment, and interact with a multidisciplinary team, patients and public. |

Course Description: This course allows the student to anticipate and evaluate all health-and-safety risks in the workplace and to suggest appropriate actions to prevent and/or correct problems in Radiation Oncology. Also, the student becomes familiar with the management of side effects. The course introduces and develops ethical standards, professional responsibilities, communication, and finally methods of prevention and resolution in interpersonal interactions that may be encountered in the health care environment. |

Course Description: This course is designed to introduce students to the basics of anatomy used in treatment planning: critical structures, target volumes and organs at risk (OARs) will be contoured using computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and digitally reconstructed radiographs (DRR's). |
