Description
Machinal follows the story of a Young Woman searching for freedom. After being pressured into marrying her boss, and then trapped by the domestic roles of motherhood, she breaks free, searching for passion and adventure. Events turn violent, and she finds herself on trial for her husband’s death. Inspired by a true story, this early expressionist play is known as a masterpiece that exposes the double standards in society, the medical system, and the justice system, particularly for women.
