Ped Days are Oct. 13-16

Usha James (pictured) of the Critical Thinking Consortium will be back with us for Ped Days this Fall, taking place Oct. 13-16 during the Fall Study Break. This is your chance to see Usha, who impressed the ÆßÐDzʿª½± crowd at the last Ped Days in the winter.

Usha will speak about and model critical thinking and student engagement. She has co-authored textbooks, teachers’ resources, course profiles and ministry documents with the aim of providing practical strategies for teachers seeking to refine their practice. Her keynote Seizing opportunities and meeting the challenges of  assessment in online, blended and physically distanced environment will be given Oct. 13 at 1 p.m. (registration details coming soon).

The closing plenary will be hosted by Michelle Miller, whose session is entitled Assessing for Learning: How Testing and Practice Help Students Become Expert Thinkers. Michelle is the author of Minds Online: Teaching Effectively with Technology (Harvard University Press, 2014).

She teaches Psychological Sciences at Northern Arizona University and works with faculty at NAU and other institutions to improve their teaching practices and course designs, with an emphasis on evidence-based practices and innovative use of educational technology. This keynote will take place Oct. 16 from 11 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. (registration details coming soon).

Ped Day workshops delivered by ÆßÐDzʿª½± faculty and external presenters will take place Oct. 14 (morning and afternoon sessions) and Oct. 15 (morning sessions only).

All faculty and professionals are welcome to attend any and all sessions. Registration and all events will take place online.
