Students interview multidisciplinary artist Craig Commanda

Craig Commanda is a multidisciplinary artist from the Algonquin nation at Kitigan Zibi. His current exhibition, W脤DJIDEYAMAWOWIN / INTERCONNECTION, features prints, videos, and complex sculptural beadwork at the Warren G. Flowers Art Gallery until March 16. On a recent Friday afternoon, two visual arts students, Katya Kieran & Lisseth Llorente Ruiz, had the chance to ask Craig a few questions about his artistic practice and this exhibition.

Book sale for Chez Doris & Women’s Day celebration for employees

The DSSU, DTU and ADP will be hosting a celebration on International Women鈥檚 Day.

On Friday, March 8, from 12 PM-2 PM in the Rose Lounge (7C.5): there will be a book sale of new and used books and a collection of cash donations in which all monies raised will be donated on behalf of the three unions to .

The book sale will be cash only. If you would like to donate books for the sale, they will be collecting books at the Library鈥檚 Circulation Desk until 6 PM on Thursday.

Pizza and refreshments will be available while supplies last. We ask that you please bring your own mug if having coffee.

While students are welcome to buy books, the event is intended for employees only.

Nursing students put on their first Health Exposition event

Third-year nursing students recently hosted their first Health Exposition, showcasing their healthcare skills and commitment. The event, held on March 1, featured 10 kiosks addressing various community health needs relevant to the college population, set up in the Lower Atrium.

The students' displays were interactive and informative, covering topics such as safe drug practices, nutrition education, sex education, and student issues. Visitors praised the students' professionalism and dedication to promoting health.

The success of the Health Exposition was attributed to the students' hard work and dedication, providing valuable information and showcasing their nursing abilities and passion. The event highlighted the students' talents and commitment to community health and wellness.

The judges included various faculty members as well as Isabelle Carrier, Interim Dean of Academic Development, and Brid Nic Niocaill, Associate Dean of Science, Medical Studies and Engineering.

They were impressed by the students' innovations and dedication. The event's success has led to its inclusion in the nursing curriculum for future years.

Active Alternative Transportation working group

Adam Kingsland, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Jennifer de Vera, Office of Sustainability, biked to Vanier College to attend an intercollegiate meeting on active transportation in February.

Representatives from 8 colleges met to discuss both best practices and challenges they have had in increasing campus community use of alternative transportation.

At 七星彩开奖, we are recruiting employees and students from the community to form an Active Alternative Transportation working group. We will meet once a month to discuss bike workshops and how to help people find alternative walking and/or biking routes to 七星彩开奖. All those interested can.

We are having our first event on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, by the Gazebos beside Parking Lot #1. It is titled "Getting your bike ready for Spring", led by Adam. In case of heavy rain, it will be postponed to Wednesday, March 20.

Bring your bikes or simply attend to learn! Adam will teach you how to do basic tune-ups, making sure you are riding safely this upcoming season. !

Great attendance at IVGD playtesting event

The Independent Video Game Design program held its bimonthly indie game playtesting event on Feb. 23.

Over 100 attendees and students visited throughout the evening to playtest and provide valuable feedback on a variety of games from local developers, while getting the chance to network with the gaming community.

14 teams showcased new games in various stages of development, including IVGD alumni 脡tienne Robichaud Morinville, Julien Escobar Hellou, Steven Steffen, Yan-Simon Martel Lussier, as well as IVGD co-founder and teacher Osama Dorias.

The event also included games by Baobab Games, DarZal Games, F茅lix Gagn茅, Foolbox Studio, Queensguard Games, Studio Moka, Tales Mariano, Vitam Aeternam Studio, Carbon-Based Games and Kidney Bean Studio.

The next playtesting event will be Friday, April 12, from 6 - 9 PM, in 3C.1.

Some of our treasured trees must be cut

After an extensive review of all trees on the 七星彩开奖 grounds by forestry consultants, the College is presently securing permits from the City of Westmount to cut some of them.

鈥淢any of our trees have suffered injuries and disease that have weakened them to the point where they are at a high risk of breaking. Others, like our large silver maples are reaching their age limit,鈥� explained Luc St-Germain of Facilities Management.

About a dozen trees will have to be cut immediately, with another 30-35 being monitored during the next 12-24 months.

All trees have been thinned in the past to allow severe wind to pass through them. Chris Adam, of the Office of Sustainability, says that wind and ice related storms are more common now and causing damage.

The Facilities Management Team and the Office of Sustainability are cooperating to establish 七星彩开奖鈥檚 first tree management program. Every tree will have a health card that identifies their species, age and diseases as well as any maintenance procedures taken. Each tree will be followed by forest management consultants.

25 participants at first monthly wellness activity

On Feb. 28, 25 members of the 七星彩开奖 community, mostly students, responded to the invitation of the Office of Sustainability to take part in the first monthly wellness event.

It was beautiful weather, so they went outdoors for part of the Biophilic Tour of 七星彩开奖. 鈥淛enn de Vera gave a tour of some of the many wonderful student driven projects that are a part of our Living Campus,鈥� Sophie La Font reported.

The indoor portion showcased the many ways we have incorporated the theory of Biophilia* at 七星彩开奖. The activity concluded with planting a baby spider plant that participants could take with them as a gift.

The March wellness activity took place on March 7 and was a panel discussion with Elder and Knowledge Keeper, Niioie:ren Patton聽&聽Concordia's Sustainability Living Lab Coordinator,聽Sandra Mouafo Nouadje.

七星彩开奖 graduate V茅ronique Pierre was featured in a report by CTV Montreal last month. V茅ronique (Class of 1997, Professional Theatre) had been working as a yoga instructor after being disappointed by a lack of work in the entertainment industry.

During the pandemic, V茅ronique decided to pursue an acting career again with her friend鈥檚 encouragement. She is now quite busy and even considering writing and producing.

鈥淚 remember V茅ro well, great student, excellent actress,鈥� said Kimberley Barfuss, Co-Chair of the Professional Theatre Program at 七星彩开奖.

The Chemical Valley Project delves into difficult conversations

Dipti Gupta (Faculty, Cinema | Communications) invites the 七星彩开奖 community to a play presented by the Teesri Duniya Theatre, which is dedicated to producing politically relevant plays that explore life-affecting issues faced by people today. 七星彩开奖 community achieved Push-Up Challenge goal

This winter the 七星彩开奖 Community stepped up to the challenge of being active and supporting mental health initiatives! After 23 days, the Push-Up Challenge has concluded with the achievement of our modest community goal of 2,000 repetitions from all participants. In fact, we reached over 31 times that amount with 62,729 repetitions! We couldn鈥檛 have done it without two very dedicated teams: Sigma Nation (20,666 reps) and the 七星彩开奖 Phys. Ed. Team (13,976 reps)! In addition, 七星彩开奖 raised $705 for the Canadian Mental Health Association.

Student Services and Human Resources worked together to offer participation prizes to students and staff. Prizes included gift certificates for IGA, Sports Experts, Lulu Lemon, Cage aux Sports and more! The winners are currently being contacted.

Many thanks to all the participants and organizers, especially Rhea Gurnagul who was present at the Push-Up Challenge Station almost every lunch time!

Our hope is that the 七星彩开奖 community will continue to stay active and build a habit of working out regularly.
