Did you know that it takes 12 female honey bees to travel 1249 kilometers together to produce 1 teaspoon of HONEY? Let’s get moving like the bees with 12 weekly wellness activities over 4 weeks including 9 live activities to connect and engage with the community!

ÆßÐDzʿª½±â€™s Sustainability Office and Human Resources, with contributions from departments and services across the college, are excited to offer 4 weeks of wellness activities to all ÆßÐDzʿª½± Employees!

Student Wellness Challenge begins Feb. 15

A Wellness Challenge for Students is being launched Feb. 15

Student Services, Sustainability and Communications have developed a peer to peer model that will encourage students to sustain healthy minds and healthy bodies through awareness and prevention.

Students will learn about how to create positive habits and find motivation from one another to combat the mental and physical burden they may be experiencing. Participants will earn entries into a draw for prizes throughout the semester.

Mental health and well-being are essential to student success. To find out more, students can follow @ on Instagram.


After “Rebellion” students discuss climate change at Feb. 18 panel

Five inspiring ÆßÐDzʿª½± students and alumni will discuss their views and actions on the Climate Crisis at the Environmental Seminar at ÆßÐDzʿª½± (virtually) on Feb. 18 at 10 a.m.

The 2019 climate march was featured in an episode of David Suzuki's The Nature of Things entitled "Rebellion". The mobilization of the College was spearheaded by the Green Earth Club. Students will discuss their involvement in the march as youth activists and present their current projects.

Presentations will be followed by a Q & A. This panel is being moderated by Brian Mader and introduced by Anna-Liisa Aunio. Please watch the episode Rebellion, which is available free on CBC Gem here:

Professionals & support staff can sign up for Sustainable Happiness

Professionals and support staff, there is an opportunity to take the 24-hour Certificate in Sustainable Happiness (SH) Course this semester. The program will run Feb. 12 through April 9 on Fridays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Participants will be introduced to the concept of Sustainable Happiness and explore its implications, both personally and professionally. This is an experiential and applied certificate.

Key topics include: sustainability, connecting with Nature, positive psychology, well-being, happiness, and healthy/sustainable lifestyles. All participants must complete a project that benefits the well-being of themselves, others and/or the planet to obtain the certificate.

Some examples of successfully completed projects last semester were plant-based recipe books, yoga / meditation challenges, going on daily dates with Nature, 30 days of acts of kindness, plant giveaways, vertical gardens at home, family wellness and a zero waste challenge.

ÆßÐDzʿª½± reacts to AASHE gold in new video

We could all use some good news to propel us through this difficult winter.

Students encourage teachers to use Sustainable Happiness in class at Ped Days

At Ped Days on Jan. 20, the tables were turned as students taught teachers for the first time at the annual professional development event for teachers.

Four final-year CRLT students shared Sustainable Happiness with teachers in the hopes of making students and teachers in virtual classrooms more connected, engaged and happy.
