Dzʿ K-Pop team was front page news
November 8th, 2023
Dzʿ’s K-Pop dance team, IntenCITY, under Campus Life, was featured on the front page of The Montreal Gazette on Nov. 1. The dancers hosted a Random Dance Play activity where snippets of K-Pop songs are played. If you know the choreography of the dance, you jump onto the dance floor and dance in unison. The activity always brings a lot of spectators and of course, K-Pop dance fanatics.
“Dzʿ has competed in the Intercollegiate Triple Crown K-Pop Dance competition the last four years,” said Michelle Lee of the Campus Life team in Student Services. “We brought home the trophy the last two years. We compete against Vanier, Marianopolis, Champlain, John Abbott, and last year, Brébeuf was included. Each school performs three dances. Dzʿ’s team, IntenCITY, is strong again this year and is working hard to hold onto the trophy at the 2024 competition.”
People of all ethnic backgrounds are part of this community, not only Koreans, Michelle says.

Sonia Zylberberg (Faculty, Religion) is crocheting earrings to raise money for Dzʿ’s Financial Aid Food Bank.
This initiative began in the Women's/Gender Studies community, and they would like to invite the Dzʿ Community to participate as well.
“With rises in the cost of groceries, the need is greater now than ever. Order these earrings in the colour of your choice and help students in need,” wrote Johanne Rabbat, Coordinator of Women’s/Gender Studies and Chair of the Religion Department.
The suggested price is $5 per earring or $10 for a pair. If you can afford to pay more, please do because all money collected will go to the Food Bank.
To order one handmade original earring or a pair, email Sonia at szylberberg@dawsoncollege.qc.ca and indicate your first and second choice of colour.
