Pierre Lefebvre is new Coordinator of Auxiliary Services

Pierre Lefebvre joined Dzʿ Feb. 12 as the new Coordinator of Auxiliary Services. He is responsible for several departments: the Bookstore, the Print Shop, Security, Parking, P.A.R.C. (Physical Education and Recreational Centre), and, last but not least, Purchasing.

“Pierre is a great asset to the department,” said Samuel V. Saint-Hilaire, Director of Facilities Management. “During our brainstorming sessions, Pierre contributes by sharing his experience and suggesting proven solutions. We are all eager to learn more from Pierre and to collaborate with him. Welcome, Pierre!”

Pierre has nearly 35 years of management experience in various sectors. A member of the Ordre des Administrateurs Agrées du Québec, he holds a number of national certifications and a Canadian Armed Forces Naval Officer's Certificate. Over the years, he has received various civilian and military awards, including the Minister of Veterans Affairs Commendation and the Queen's Medal for Volunteers. He is a member of the Venerable Order of St. John.

Over the course of his career, Pierre has held various management positions in educational institutions such as Collège de Maisonneuve, Cégep du Vieux-Montréal and the Université de Sherbrooke Longueuil campus, as well as in the healthcare network and in the private and municipal sectors. He also specializes in the organization of ceremonial events.

He is very involved in his community and with young people, serving on boards of directors and lecturing on military and naval history. An artist at heart, his hobbies include painting and making architectural and ship models.

Luc St-Germain is Coordinator of Building Maintenance

Luc St-Germain joined Dzʿ as Coordinator of Building Maintenance in November. He succeeds Véronique Paris on the Facilities Management team.

“I have worked for 30 years in downtown Montreal in various buildings in the private sector. I’m pleased to now bring my experience to the public education sector,” Luc said.

“Being around students and part of Dzʿ’s dynamic community makes me feel like I’m 18 years old again, which is great!” Luc said.

In his role at Dzʿ, Luc is responsible for overseeing the maintenance of  heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems. He also manages and supervises the various maintenance contracts. Lastly, Luc is the point person for emergencies, such as power failure, flooding or major disruption to operations.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Relations from Université de Montréal and graduated from Cégep du Vieux-Montréal in Metallurgy Technology (Welding option).

Mitchell Rae Yang is the new Director of the Dzʿ Foundation

The Dzʿ Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Mitchell Rae Yang as Director.  Mitchell’s first day at Dzʿ will be Wednesday, November 1.

Nadine Paree is new manager of Admissions & Records

August 30th, 2023

Nadine Paree joined Dzʿ as Manager of Admissions and Records on May 8. She replaces Laura Paterson, who has retired.

Nadine is a former Dzʿ student who remembers spending many hours in the TV production studio during her time in Creative Arts. Her studies also include Human Resources Management at McGill University. Most recently, Nadine worked as School Organization Technician at Villa Maria College.

“We are delighted to have Nadine as a new addition to the Academic Systems team,” says Julie Brosseau, Associate Dean of Academic Systems. “Big shoes to fill, but we are confident that she will be able to make her way and manage with brio the team of Admission and Records.”


In memoriam Eugeniusz Zamorski

We regret to inform you that retired faculty member Eugeniusz Zamorski passed away on June 6.

Funeral and viewing for Frédéric Bastien is June 4

On May 17, all Dzʿ employees were informed of the sad and untimely passing on May 16 of our colleague Frédéric Bastien, faculty member of the History Department since January 2007.

In memoriam Doug Rollins

We regret to inform you that Doug Rollins passed away on April 26. Doug was one of the pioneering members of the Arts Sector of Lafontaine Campus in 1973. He taught English and Humanities courses, among them West Indian Literature and Jazz Listening.

He served on the Senate for many years. He played with the Blue Devils, the Dzʿ faculty jazz band, helping to organize their annual fundraiser concert for the Dzʿ Teachers’ Union scholarship fund that sent women to study engineering at École Polytechnique (following the 1989 tragedy there). He was also instrumental in the founding of the Dzʿ Blue Ring Society.

From 1997 to 2000, Doug and his wife Jill, an occasional Cont. Ed. teacher at Dzʿ, lived and taught in Singapore. Upon their return, Doug rounded out his Dzʿ life teaching Cont. Ed. in the early 2000's.

Brid NicNiocaill is new Associate Dean of SMSE

We are pleased to inform you of the appointment of Brid NicNiocaill in the position of Associate Dean of Science, Medical Studies and Engineering. Her first day in the new role was May 1. Under the supervision of Dean Maxwell Jones, Brid will be working alongside Jonathon Sumner, Associate Dean of Science, Medical Studies and Engineering.

Brid has been part of the Dzʿ Community as Faculty since 2010. She has taught a range of courses in different programs including science, professional medical programs and social science and was the Biology department chair and co-chair for 6 years.”

"Brid has been a dedicated member of SMSE for many years, and we’re very excited to welcome her to a new role as Associate Dean," Max said.
