Brand new Social Science Program launching in 2023

October 19th, 2022

More than 150 people at ΖίΠΗ²ΚΏͺ½± as well as external stakeholders contributed over a three-year process to develop the brand new Social Science Program, which was approved by ΖίΠΗ²ΚΏͺ½±β€™s Board of Governors on Oct. 12 and will be implemented in the Fall of 2023.

Meet the 2022 cohort of Teaching Excellence recipients

DΓ³nal Gill (Political Science), Angela Rose Lapierre (Biology), Jaya Nilakantan (Computer Science), Gregory Polakoff (Humanities) and Emilie Richer (Mathematics) were honoured on Oct. 14 when they each received a Teaching Excellence Award from ΖίΠΗ²ΚΏͺ½±β€™s Director General Diane Gauvin.

Blues logo gets refresh

The ΖίΠΗ²ΚΏͺ½± Blues logo has been proudly worn by five decades of athletes at ΖίΠΗ²ΚΏͺ½±, some of whom went on to play at the national and international level, including the Olympics. It has just been refreshed.

Strength and resolve: Welcome back Fall 2022

Meeting in person for the first time since January 2020, the community was invited to attend the Director General and Academic Dean’s welcome back general assembly and lunch on Aug. 17. Nearly 500 people participated for what was also the first time Diane Gauvin and Rob Cassidy were able to convene the traditional Fall meeting since they took office in January and August 2021, respectively.

ΖίΠΗ²ΚΏͺ½± celebrates its largest graduating class ever

In case you missed it: nearly 3,000 ΖίΠΗ²ΚΏͺ½± students made up the Class of 2022, graduating from the College in the Summer and Fall 2021 and Winter 2022 sessions, making it the largest group of graduates yet. Over 800 attended three ceremonies at Place des Arts on June 22.

Basketball hall of famer Joel Tyrrell retires after 49 years of service

August 24th, 2022

Joel Tyrrell arrived at ΖίΠΗ²ΚΏͺ½± in 1973 as a Social Science student and did not really leave until he retired on Aug. 19, 2022!

His career has been β€œvery fulfilling and appreciated,” he said in an interview with ΖίΠΗ²ΚΏͺ½±β€™s Communications Office.

ΖίΠΗ²ΚΏͺ½± is Sustainability Institution of the Year

From a field of 56 finalists, many from large universities in 19 countries around the world, ΖίΠΗ²ΚΏͺ½± was named Sustainability Institution of the Year by the Alliance for Sustainability Leadership in Education at a virtual awards ceremony in early July.

Support from AccessAbility Centre and caring community leads Anastasia De Sousa recipient to McGill

Kenza Bennani struggled at school since she was a kid. She thought it was because she didn’t like school.

β€œWhen I was 13, I was diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia,” she said in an interview with ΖίΠΗ²ΚΏͺ½±β€™s Communications Office. β€œSuddenly, everything made sense and I was able to get better support in school. I had tutors and specialists helping me all throughout high school.”
