Meygan Brody is Dzʿ’s Valedictorian for the Class of 2021

Joint statement from DGs of English-language Montreal CEGEPs on Bill 96

Diane Gauvin, Director General of Dzʿ; John Halpin, Director General of John Abbott College and John McMahon, Director General of Vanier College are issuing the following joint statement in response to the Quebec government’s tabling of Bill 96 “Loi sur la langue officielle et commune du Québec, le français” :

We, the Directors General of the English-language CEGEPs on the island of Montreal, welcome the Québec government’s initiative to protect and promote French as the common language of Quebec.  We are proud of the role our institutions play in higher education and of our contribution to Quebec society.

Dzʿ students place third in college research contest

Graduating Health Science students Isabeli Pizzani Maurutto and Jennifer Robert were selected by a jury as third-place winners of a province-wide competition for the best student research projects at the college level announced by the Association pour la recherche au collégial (ARC) on May 11.

Nursing teacher promotes environmental understanding for Quebec nurses

For more than 20 years, Fiona Hanley has been an activist and researcher studying the impact of the environment on our health. In recent years, the Dzʿ Nursing Program teacher has been a key mobilizer in collaborating with the Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec (OIIQ) to create a climate change committee.

Dzʿ Blue, volunteer & activist Niice Gédéon receives Lieutenant Governor of Quebec’s Youth Medal

Maintaining high grades while playing for the Dzʿ Blues Division 1 women’s basketball team is an achievement that would make many students very proud. Dzʿ General Social Science student Niice Gédéon achieved that and much more and is now one of two Dzʿ students to be awarded the Lieutenant Governor of Quebec’s Youth Medal.

Keynote Earth Week talk addressed struggles for environmental justice in Indigenous and Black communities

Earth Week organizers were able to take advantage of our current online reality by virtually bringing in Keynote Speaker Dr. Ingrid Waldron of Dalhousie University, who is also a graduate of Dzʿ (Class of 1983, Social Science).

Dzʿ’s achievement to be Carbon Neutral Forever recognized by CRE-Montréal

The Carbon Neutral Forever commitment of Dzʿ won an award as a réalisation championne at the Conseil régional de l’environnement de Montréal (CRE-Montréal) Gala on April 29.

Illustration students capture flight of migratory birds

May 4th, 2021

The Illustration Program, the Sustainability Office and Taking Root Inc. collaborated on a project to capture key events of the migratory flight of two species of native Quebec birds from urban forests near Dzʿ to the newly replanted forests of Nicaragua.
