Social Science Week is Feb. 7-11

A new semester is upon us and Social Science Week 2022, to take place Feb. 7-11, is offering a stimulating week of talks and activities. Please review the line-up for the week in the program.

In light of the current situation, the conference will be online this year. 

  • If we have returned to in-person teaching, these talks will be streamed into your classroom and, wherever possible, we’ll set up two-way cameras to facilitate interaction between students and presenters.
  • If we are continuing with online teaching, students will be able to sign into these talks from wherever they are connecting.

Selma Hamdani & Joel Trudeau receive their AQPC mention d’honneur awards

Selma Hamdani (Coordinator of the Psychology Profile) and Joel Trudeau (Coordinator of the SPACE Certificate) were celebrated by the at a special awards ceremony on Nov. 20. Joel received a mention d’honneur for teaching and pedagogy in 2020 and Selma received the same honour in 2021.

Finally, a proper celebration was possible to highlight Selma and Joel’s high quality of work, contribution to the evolution of teaching, and daily dedication to best practices. ÆßÐDzʿª½± was proud to share this news on our social media channels last week:


Open invitation to contribute to Beyond Orange Shirt Day at ÆßÐDzʿª½±

For anyone who would like to get involved in Beyond Orange Shirt Day at ÆßÐDzʿª½±, First Peoples’ Centre Coordinator Tiawenti:non Canadian and other staff members will be hosting an open meeting to begin planning for First Peoples’ Week 2022.

First Peoples’ Week is an annual celebration of Indigenous knowledges and cultures on campus. This year it will take place from Monday, March 28 to Friday, April 1. The first planning meeting will be in the Rose Lounge (7C.5) at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2021.


Plan a Blanket Exercise for next semester

As a part of the ÆßÐDzʿª½± Peace Centre's commitment to decolonization and Indigenization, we will continue to offer organizational and financial support to faculty to host an Indigenous Elder to facilitate a Blanket Exercise in their classroom in the Winter 2022 semester. The Blanket Exercise is an interactive experiential exercise which enables students to understand Indigenous history on Turtle Island (A’nowara’ko:wa) as well as the legacy of colonization.

Intercollegiate Ped Days is Jan. 12-13-14

Registration will soon open for Intercollegiate Ped Days, happening online Jan. 12-13-14. Faculty will receive an email notifying them that registration is open and a link will also be on the Faculty Hub website.

The theme is Systemic Transformation: Developing our Inclusive Practices.

The event is jointly hosted by Champlain College-Lennoxville, Champlain College-St. Lambert, ÆßÐDzʿª½±, Heritage College, John Abbott College, St. Lawrence CEGEP Champlain, Marianopolis College, and Vanier College.
