Six faculty members completed Sustainable Happiness

Facilitator Holly McIntyre led a group of faculty members through the Sustainable Happiness non-credit course pioneered at Dzʿ. Congrats to our first SH faculty grads!

- Richard Montreuil (Department Chair, Phys ed): Created a student survey to understand what makes students happy in Phys. Ed. classes and shared results with the group and his department
- Cory Deegan ( Ed.): Adding SH activities and reflections to his Phys. Ed. courses
- Caroline Haddad ( Ed.): (with Layal) Put up a gratitude board in the hallway, provided to the community ways of feeling and expressing gratitude, and hosted a Phys. Ed. gratitude coffee and snack break to share gratitude
- Paul Wasacz ( Ed.): Planting three sisters with his Phys. Ed. class to prepare for the new Indigenous garden and arranging for students to take care of the seedlings
- Layal Nakhlé ( Ed.) (with Caroline): Put up a gratitude board in the hallway, provided to the community ways of feeling and expressing gratitude, and hosted a Phys. Ed. gratitude coffee and snack break to share gratitude

Professional development for faculty and professionals

Dzʿ offers support for current teachers and educational professionals to engage in the accredited professional development program for college teachers from the University of Sherbrooke. The Performa program encourages continuous learning directly relevant to teachers and professional roles in the college network.

UDL Inclusion and Wellness Retreat for Teachers – Sign Up Today!

The Dzʿ Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is hosting an all-inclusive two-day retreat crafted for Dzʿ faculty dedicated to fostering inclusion and wellness in their classrooms. Taking place on June 12-13 at the serene Kio-O Center in Sainte-Lucie-des-Laurentides.
Designed to empower faculty members with essential tools and strategies, the retreat offers a four-part workshop series deeply rooted in UDL principles. With over 10 hours of professional enrichment, participants will gain practical insights into inclusive teaching methods finely tuned to address diverse student needs. Guest speakers include Effie Konstantinopoulos, founder of UDL at Dzʿ.
But it’s not just about professional growth. Participants will enjoy rejuvenating group wellness activities, including nature hiking, yoga and stand-up paddle board, tailored for all ability levels. Plus, nourishing vegetarian meals with vegan options available upon sign-up will be provided.

ChatGPT Toolkit for CEGEP Teachers
English teacher Stéphane Paquet (Champlain College) has developed an interactive ChatGPT Toolkit that can help teachers navigate ChatGPT. The Toolkit was recently introduced on the website. “Essentially, the toolkit serves as an empowering guide where the teacher becomes the expert, and the AI tool is the assistant. Teachers will learn to instruct and program ChatGPT with words to make it perform a specific task adapted to their specific context.”
