Flood update from FAMA

February 22nd, 2023

After the flooding at Dzʿ on February 4, images were shared on social media depicting water with a greenish or grey colour. This colour comes from an eco-friendly colorant that allows maintenance teams to detect leaks and the liquid was non-toxic.

The water was all cleaned up on the same Saturday and a combination of blowers and dehumidifiers were installed right away, which prevented opportunities for mold to grow.

The Facilities Management team is working with the restoration company, First on Site.

After assessment, which includes humidity and air quality readings, four teaching spaces and two teachers’ offices along with some walls along various hallways require further remediation due to water which infiltrated the walls but is now removed. At this time, there are no environmental issues related to the flood. The rooms are expected to be back in use in about a week
