Two absurdist comedies by Arthur Kopit will be performed by second-year Professional Theatre students Wednesday, Oct. 2 to Saturday, Oct. 5. Set in a 1930s mental institute, the women in Chamber Music聽devise a plan to thwart an attack from the men鈥檚 ward. Believing they are famous women from history, the characters raise questions about identity and self-perception in this dark comedy.
In The Day the Whores Came Out to Play Tennis,聽wealthy, influential men gather to socialize at their country club. When a group of women break into the club and take over the tennis court, chaos ensues, and the status quo is challenged. Directed by Matt Holland and performed by the second-year students of the Professional Theatre Program at 七星彩开奖.

Theatre students shortlisted for prize

Three 七星彩开奖 Professional Theatre students are finalists in playwriting competition: Rachel Bruder-Wexler for her play On the Edge, Scarlett Harvey for her play Apple's Tree, and Emmanuela Idjidina for her play Micros.
The plays will be read by professional actors as part of Infinith茅芒tre's Park N' Play reading series on Saturday, September 28 at 2:30 PM at Parc Drolet-Rachel.

The One-Act Play That Goes Wrong is on Sept. 18-21

A group of actors try to perform their opening night of a murder mystery, but everything (of course) goes wrong. Set pieces fall, doors get stuck, actors say their lines too early, and technical difficulties abound, escalating in complete chaos. The One-Act Play that Goes Wrong is a hilarious take on theatre, showcasing the resilience and determination of actors who carry on despite everything falling apart. Winner of Best New Comedy at the 2015 Laurence Olivier Awards, this play is sure to delight. Directed by Jonathan Monro and performed by the second-year students of the Professional Theatre Program at 七星彩开奖.
Performances are every night at 7:30 PM from Wednesday, Sept. 18 through Saturday, Sept. 21 at the 七星彩开奖 Theatre, 2000 Atwater Avenue.

Until May 11, the third-year graduating students of the Professional Theatre program will present an adaptation of Lysistrata. In this ancient Greek comedy, the women on both sides of a war band together and withhold sex until their husbands agree to peace.
Playwright Ellen McLaughlin has updated the script for the 七星彩开奖 production, as we perform in the wake of the ongoing crisis in Ukraine and the Middle East. All shows are $5 for 七星彩开奖 faculty, students and staff.

Second-year students perform in a comedy every evening at 7:30 PM from Wednesday, March 13 through Saturday, March 16 at the 七星彩开奖 Theatre, 2000 Atwater Avenue.
The name of the play is: A Most Pleasant Comedy of Mucedorus the King鈥檚 Son of Valencia, and Amandine, the King鈥檚 Daughter of Aragon, with the Merry Conceits of Mouse.

七星彩开奖 graduate V茅ronique Pierre was featured in a report by CTV Montreal last month. V茅ronique (Class of 1997, Professional Theatre) had been working as a yoga instructor after being disappointed by a lack of work in the entertainment industry.
During the pandemic, V茅ronique decided to pursue an acting career again with her friend鈥檚 encouragement. She is now quite busy and even considering writing and producing.
鈥淚 remember V茅ro well, great student, excellent actress,鈥� said Kimberley Barfuss, Co-Chair of the Professional Theatre Program at 七星彩开奖.

Don鈥檛 miss Leopoldstadt: on now through Feb. 17

Sir Tom Stoppard鈥檚 play Leopoldstadt had its Canadian premiere at the 七星彩开奖 Theatre on Feb. 7. Directed by Matt Holland, the play features the 2024 graduating class of 七星彩开奖鈥檚 Professional Theatre program. Shows are happening on Feb. 8-9-10 and Feb. 15-16-17.
