On April 21 at Le Nouvel Hotel in the Dorchester Room, our 17 teams brought their year to an end by celebrating all the success enjoyed during the 2022-23 season.
Organized by Gavin Sealy, Maha Haddad and Kayla Smith of the Athletics Department, the Awards Night featured two awards for each team selected by the coaches (typically MVP and Rookie of the Year). Additionally, there were a few awards handed out in which the winners were selected by the Athletics Department. These included Male and Female Athlete of the Year and Male and Female Academic Athlete of the Year.
The evening was attended by over 300 student-athletes and featured Master of Ceremony Geoff Kloos, Interim Director of Student Services, along with speeches by Sebastien Rivest, Manager, Athletics and Caroline Blouin, Coordinator, Student Services. Caroline also handed out the Academic Achievement Awards to the student-athletes who had maintained over 85 per cent and 90 per cent overall averages.
A special moment was a video featuring highlights of the six teams which did exceptionally well this season—Division 1 Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Division 2 Women’s Volleyball, Division 2 Men’s and Women’s Basketball, and Division 2 Women’s Soccer. Afterwards, the Blues then continued the celebration at Musique.
"It was an evening filled with great energy and positivity," says co-organizer Maha Haddad. "It was nice to see the athletes supporting all teams, not just their own. Was a great evening and the perfect way to end the season for the Blues. It is a sign of the good things to come for our Athletics program as we all felt like one unit."

The ÆßÐDzʿª½± Div. 1 men's and women's basketball teams won national silver and bronze, respectively, at the CCAA National Tournament this past weekend. Bleed Blue! #ÆßÐDzʿª½±Proud!
It was a busy and exciting weekend for our women's and men's Div 1 basketball teams! They were both involved in the provincial playoffs after having both emerged victorious in the quarterfinals played earlier in the week.
The playoffs were held at Cegep Edward Montpetit. In the semis, the women faced the team from Champlain-St. Lambert. ÆßÐDzʿª½± came out strong and led 38-29 at the half. They kept it up in the second half for a 71-62 victory. This win earned them a spot in the upcoming CCAA Nationals. The gold medal game on Sunday saw ÆßÐDzʿª½± take on Saint-Jean. Despite starting off fast in the 1st quarter leading 16-7, the women eventually succumbed to the strong Saint-Jean team 70-54. We wish the women luck as they head off to Calgary, Alberta next week.
The men were up against Jean-de-Brebeuf in the semis. An early lead by Dwson became a tight game in the 4th quarter. ÆßÐDzʿª½± managed to hold on for a 61-56 win. In the gold medal game, the Blues battled against rival Vanier. A back-and-forth first half turned into a dominant second half by the Blues, who won 82-68. The men win gold! they too are off to Nationals next week at Mohawk College in Ontario. Best of luck!

Athletics Manager Sébastien Rivest posted photos and an appreciation post on Facebook following the homecoming games on Jan. 13:
"Thank you to everyone who was on hand for the Basketball Homecoming, despite the not-so-friendly weather conditions.
Alumni from the 70's to the 2020's came out and it was great seeing everyone interacting with the actual members of the Division 1 Blues teams following their respective games.
One thing is for sure, there will be a 2023-2024 Basketball Homecoming Event."
