Successful exam period over

Thanks to all who worked the English Exit Exam on May 18 and the other end-of-semester exams, which took place May 19-30.

More than 80 employees invigilated and organized the English Exit Exam, which 1,410 students sat for. "It went very well and was a very fluid collaboration – thanks to all," said Orphée Pierre, Manager of Scheduling and Registration.

About 20 employees from QAPO, CAA, SMSE, SSBT, OAD, CECS, Academic Systems and FAMA and occasionals worked dozens of other exams, reported Katherine McWhaw, who oversees the exam operation. A total of 6,137 students wrote the exams. (Note that some students sat for several exams so may be counted more than once).

Plans for Orange Shirt Day leading up to Sept. 30

This fall, Dzʿ will host several events leading up to, and in observance of Sept. 30, Orange T-Shirt Day-National Day of Truth and Reconciliation.

A dedicated team of students, faculty, professionals, and support staff, in consultation with Indigenous advisors, will organize these events with the goal of providing learning opportunities and raising awareness about decolonization and the importance of this day.

Support (resources, ideas, suggestions for speakers) is available for faculty who would like to include the theme of residential schools, the Truth and Reconciliation Report, or other decolonization topics in their course.

Cathy Roy honoured with SALTISE Award for College Instructors

Since joining Dzʿ in 2015, Cathy Roy has sparked an excitement for new adventures in pedagogy, fostering greater collaboration and creativity within the Physiotherapy Technology Department.

Her ingenuity has won her a 2022 SALTISE Best Practices & Pedagogical Innovators Award, which she will receive at the 11th edition of the SALTISE Conference on June 2-3.

“There is no room for boredom or stagnation in teaching. No two days have felt the same since I started,” said Cathy.

ALC Festival 2022 “Unfolds” until May 20

To unfold is to smooth surfaces, to disclose what is or has been hidden from view, revealing secrets and potentials.

The ALC Festival is a celebration and exhibition of projects by graduating students from the six profiles of the Arts, Literature and Communications Program. This year, the festival, happening May 5-20, presents the creative works that ALC students made back in March 2020, their first semester of in-person learning, andcelebrates the opening up and continuation of our lives as the pandemic starts to wane.

While most events have passed, you can still check out the innovative works of art from the Kaleidoscope and Գ󲹲Գé exhibitions in the 5C hallways!
