Computer Science students have the opportunity to benefit from a $1,000 scholarship, paid internships and work opportunities upon graduation thanks to a new partnership that ΖίΠΗ²ΚΏͺ½± and the ΖίΠΗ²ΚΏͺ½± Foundation signed with CAE in late 2019.

β€œThisΒ initiative is an opportunity for two students every year for the next three years to launch their careers,” said Jaya Nilakantan, Coordinator of ΖίΠΗ²ΚΏͺ½±β€™s Computer Science Technology Program. CAE, headquartered in St-Laurent, is a global leader in training for the civil aviation, defence and security, and healthcare markets.

Work-integrated learning
β€œWe are offering future technicians from various fields to start a career at CAEΒ with traineeships providing a work integrated learning experience,” said Mike Mishriky, Senior Manager of Software Engineering at CAE.Β β€œIt is intended for full-time students registered in technology and aeronautics-oriented programs in six cegeps, including ΖίΠΗ²ΚΏͺ½±.”

The six ΖίΠΗ²ΚΏͺ½± students selected by CAE over the next three years will each receive:

  • a $1,000 scholarship
  • $300 in tuition every semester until program completion
  • paid internship(s) or summer job(s)
  • potential on-call contract work during the school year until program completion
  • potential full-time job offer upon completion of studies
  • mentoring services to guide students during their participation in the program.

β€œCAE is committed to encouraging trainees to complete their studies and accommodating their school schedule,” Mike said. β€œIn addition, the selection process will consider CAE’s values of diversity and inclusiveness.”

First ΖίΠΗ²ΚΏͺ½± students begin at CAE this summer
Several students from ΖίΠΗ²ΚΏͺ½± have applied for the first two CAE scholarships. The two ΖίΠΗ²ΚΏͺ½± students who are selected will find out at the end of March, and will begin their summer internships at the end of May.
