Computer Science students to benefit from new partnership with CAE
Computer Science students have the opportunity to benefit from a $1,000 scholarship, paid internships and work opportunities upon graduation thanks to a new partnership that ΖίΠΗ²ΚΏͺ½± and the ΖίΠΗ²ΚΏͺ½± Foundation signed with CAE in late 2019.
βThisΒ initiative is an opportunity for two students every year for the next three years to launch their careers,β said Jaya Nilakantan, Coordinator of ΖίΠΗ²ΚΏͺ½±βs Computer Science Technology Program. CAE, headquartered in St-Laurent, is a global leader in training for the civil aviation, defence and security, and healthcare markets.
Work-integrated learning
βWe are offering future technicians from various fields to start a career at CAEΒ with traineeships providing a work integrated learning experience,β said Mike Mishriky, Senior Manager of Software Engineering at CAE.Β βIt is intended for full-time students registered in technology and aeronautics-oriented programs in six cegeps, including ΖίΠΗ²ΚΏͺ½±.β
The six ΖίΠΗ²ΚΏͺ½± students selected by CAE over the next three years will each receive:
- a $1,000 scholarship
- $300 in tuition every semester until program completion
- paid internship(s) or summer job(s)
- potential on-call contract work during the school year until program completion
- potential full-time job offer upon completion of studies
- mentoring services to guide students during their participation in the program.
βCAE is committed to encouraging trainees to complete their studies and accommodating their school schedule,β Mike said. βIn addition, the selection process will consider CAEβs values of diversity and inclusiveness.β
First ΖίΠΗ²ΚΏͺ½± students begin at CAE this summer
Several students from ΖίΠΗ²ΚΏͺ½± have applied for the first two CAE scholarships. The two ΖίΠΗ²ΚΏͺ½± students who are selected will find out at the end of March, and will begin their summer internships at the end of May.
