Dzʿ will celebrate women’s day/week with a program to inspire, enlighten, honour, recognize and mobilize. Various activities and events organized and sponsored by Women’s/Gender Studies, Dzʿ Peace Centre, Dzʿ Student Union, Dzʿ Support Staff Union and Association of Dzʿ Professionals include:

 

Wednesday, March 7

  • Kimberley Manning and Gabrielle Bouchard on trans youth at 2:30 p.m. in 3F.43

 

Thursday, March 8

  • Employees are invited to a special lunch by their colleagues in the DSSU and ADP, but a book sale and raffle with funds going to Chez Doris is open to all.  The book sale will be held between noon and 2 p.m. outside 7C.5 and tickets for the raffle may be purchased from Jessie in 2G.1-6 (CTD), Lucy in 2D.6 (Registrar’s), Allison in 2E.8 (Student AccessAbility) or Diana in 4B.1-8 (Peace Centre). Raffle prizes include a massage,  a PARC pass, theatre tickets, Dzʿ sportswear, artwork, gift basket, and mini iPad.
  • Geneviève Rail on “Women and the Well-being Imperative: Bio-Others, Rescue Missions and Social Justice” at 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at 4C.1
  • Ongoing throughout the day: Policing the policies clothes line, pins and henna, Ecofeminism booth and vegan bake sale, the Dzʿ Woman (photo essay) in Conrods
  • Traditional Indigenous women’s drum and song group Odaya performance in Conrods at 2 p.m.
  • A Celebration of Art 6-7:30 p.m. in Conrods, $5 entrance in advance, $7 at the door, or more, all proceeds go to Chez Doris

 

Friday, March 9

  • Speaker Chantal Maillé on Post-colonial Feminism in the Canadian Context in 4C.1 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
  • Ryoko Hashizume (Social Service internship student at Women Aware) in Conrods, booth and discussion throughout the day
  • Ongoing throughout the day: Policing the policies clothes line, pins and henna, Ecofeminism booth and vegan bake sale, the Dzʿ Woman (photo essay) in Conrods
