Waste management results

Share

Our waste management efforts at ÆßÐDzʿª½± are showing results. In the past three years, our diversion rate has gone from a dismal 24 per cent of our waste material not going to landfill to 37 per cent (equaling Montreal’s numbers). Waste sorting activities show that nearly 60 per cent of what goes to ÆßÐDzʿª½±â€™s waste compactor is actually compostable. We still have a lot of work to do!

Individual garbage pick-up from offices has stopped. You are responsible for bringing your waste material to a central collection station either in a hallway or in a central location if you are in one of the large administrative office blocks.

Also, in case you didn’t know, used and unused tissue paper, paper towels and paper napkins are compostable. Please help us continue to grow our compost. Remember that conventional plastics will not decompose in a compost heap. Please take your compostable leftovers out of plastic containers before you dump them.

It is thanks to your efforts that have improved the way we manage our waste. Thank you!
