During the application period for each of these awards, a link will become active in your ÆßÐDzʿª½± Omnivox portal (Student Services / Awards and Scholarships) that will lead you to the form you must complete and submit before the deadline, as well as information concerning other materials that may be required.
The application period for Fall semester awards will be from September 26 – October 14, 2024.
Aditya Youth Trust Fund Scholarship
​Aditya Youth Trust Fund (AYTF) is a Montreal based, non-denominational, charitable organization dedicated to helping and encouraging young people to achieve their full potential. Based on the premise that the young hold the key to our future, AYTF offers a helping hand to under resourced youth so that they may become better students, better persons, and ultimately builders of a better society.
Awarded to a first-year ÆßÐDzʿª½± student who has a satisfactory academic record, can demonstrate financial need and involvement in community service/volunteer activities and has had success in overcoming obstacles in the pursuit of learning​.
- Be a first-year student
- Have a satisfactory academic record (transcripts from high school)
- Can demonstrate financial need (total family income must not exceed $60,000 per year)
- Can demonstrate success in overcoming obstacles in the pursuit of learning
- Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
- In addition to their application, must provide one letter of reference by the deadline (reference persons may email them directly to awards@dawsoncollege.qc.ca) and a personal letter explaining why they are applying for this award
​Any supporting documents and letters must be in PDF format and submitted to the Awards Office before the application deadline.
ÆßÐDzʿª½± Perseverance Award
Established in 2023, this award was created with funding from the Student Academic Growth and Enrichment (SAGE) fund to encourage ÆßÐDzʿª½± students from all programs and sectors to continue in their studies.
The ÆßÐDzʿª½± Perseverance Award is given to one student from each sector (Creative & Applied Arts; Science, Medical Studies and Engineering; Social Science & Business Technologies; and Continuing Education).
The recipients will be selected based on perseverance and the overcoming of obstacles in their academic achievements.
- Be a current student
- Have completed at least one year of Cegep studies
- Have faced challenges and overcome obstacles in and/or outside of school
- ​Financial need may be taken into consideration.
ÆßÐDzʿª½± Teachers’ Union Polytechnique Memorial Scholarship
​This scholarship was instituted by the ÆßÐDzʿª½± Teachers' Union as a memorial scholarship following the massacre of women at the École Polytechnique in Montreal in December 1989, in order to provide support and encourage women and gender minorities to enter and complete Engineering Technology programs.
​The ÆßÐDzʿª½± Teachers’ Union Polytechnique Memorial Scholarship is given to a student who is a woman or someone who does not self-identify with the sex assigned at birth and who has completed their first year in the day program of one of the following programs: Computer Science Technology, Laboratory Technology – Analytical Chemistry, Civil Engineering Technology, Electronics Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
The recipient of this scholarship may be eligible to receive a renewal, provided they continue in an applicable program.
- Be a student who is a woman or someone who does not self-identify with the sex assigned at birth
- Be a full-time, Day student in their second or third year
- Be enrolled in an applicable program
- ​Have demonstrated a commitment to the field of study
- Have shown promise in their field of study
Glay Sperling Prize
This prize was established in the name of Glay Sperling, the founder of the Cinema-Communications department at ÆßÐDzʿª½±.
​This prize is given to an Arts, Literature and Communication (ALC) student who, during their first year in one of the following disciplines: Art History, Cinema, Drama, Fine Arts, or Music, has demonstrated overall academic achievement as well as great potential for success.​
- Be a second year ALC Day student
- Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
- Have demonstrated overall academic achievement
- Show great potential for success in at least one of the following disciplines: Art History, Cinema, Drama, Fine Arts, Music
James Mervyn Upham Bursary
​The children of the late James Mervyn Upham, as graduates of ÆßÐDzʿª½±, offer this bursary in honour of their late father, who was a social worker in Montreal, in order to assist Social Service students who have challenging financial means.
This bursary is given to second year Social Service student who demonstrates professionalism and a commitment to core social work values (i.e. service to humanity; pursuit of social justice; integrity; competence and confidentiality in professional practice; respect for inherent dignity and worth of persons; understand the importance and centrality of human relationships).
- Be a full-time student in their second year of the Social Service program
- Be in good academic standing (have a 70% average or above during their time at ÆßÐDzʿª½±)
- Be able to demonstrate professionalism and a commitment to core social work values (i.e., service to humanity; pursuit of social justice; integrity; competence and confidentiality in professional practice; respect for inherent dignity and worth of persons; understand the importance and centrality of human relationships)
Mahsa Amini Scholarship - Fall
This scholarship was established by the ÆßÐDzʿª½± Student Union (DSU) in collaboration with the Mahsa Amini Initiative and with the support of the Student Academic Growth and Enrichment (SAGE) fund. The Mahsa Amini Initiative is a continuous, student-led project started in Fall 2022 by the DSU and its volunteers and supported by ÆßÐDzʿª½± community members. One part of this project is a monetary award aiming to support resilient international and refugee students affected by conflict and in need of financial aid. Though often overlooked, these crises can have a significant negative impact on students’ personal and academic lives.
Given to up to two students, the Mahsa Amini Scholarship aims to help resilient international and refugee students in financial need. Priority is given to students who identify as women and non-binary people to honour Mahsa Amini, movements fighting for women’s freedom, and to recognize the persisting economic and social gender gap. All international and refugee students are encouraged to apply, regardless of gender.

Applicants may also submit additional documents to the selection committee such as a picture, a piece of writing, or anything they wish to add. This is completely optional.

Tony Proudfoot Outdoor Education Award - Fall
​​The Tony Proudfoot Outdoor Education Award is granted in honour of Tony Proudfoot, who made significant contributions to the ÆßÐDzʿª½± Physical Education Department as a teacher, coordinator of Outdoor Education, and chairperson of the department. It was established to enable students to take an intensive outdoor education course that they may not otherwise be able to afford. This fund will allow more students, as future leaders of our community, to pursue an educational experience that promotes leadership, adventure, cooperation, teamwork, and environmental awareness.
Given to a student who has taken an eligible Outdoor Education course during which they demonstrated any or all of the following qualities: exemplary leadership, a sense of adventure, teamwork, environmental awareness, the ability to overcome adversity, the initiative to support other people in challenging situations.
- Be a Day student
- Have taken an eligible outdoor education course offered by the Physical Education Department in the previous semester
- Have demonstrated exemplary leadership, a sense of adventure, teamwork and/or other qualities, during the eligible outdoor education course
​​Students who have taken an eligible course will receive a MIO with with information on how to apply when the application period opens.

These awards are either Nomination-Based or Grade-Based.
Nomination-Based awards
You cannot apply for these awards. If you have been nominated, we will contact you directly to let you know. However, if you feel you would be a good candidate, you could discuss a particular award opportunity with a teacher. In most cases teachers and staff members can nominate.
David Oliver Award
​This award is offered by the Association of ÆßÐDzʿª½± Professionals in memory of David Oliver, who was a beloved member of the Student Services staff who died at a young age and is fondly remembered by his colleagues and the students whose lives he touched. Oliver's café in 2C.17​​ is named after David.
​The David Oliver Award is given to a second or third year student in good academic standing, whose involvement in extracurricular activities shows great leadership promise and who best exemplifies the sense of responsibility and integrity within student activities that David Oliver worked so hard to engendre.
- Be a second or third year Day student
- Be in good academic standing
- Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
- ​Have been involved in extracurricular activities, during which they have demonstrated great leadership promise, a sense of responsibility, and integrity
Harry Fainsilber Memorial Award
​This award was established by the Fainsilber family in memory of the late Harry Fainsilber, a beloved Mathematics teacher at ÆßÐDzʿª½±.
​The Harry Fainsilber Memorial Award is given to a second-year female student who, during her first year, has demonstrated perseverance and determination in the field of Mathematics.
- Be a female full-time second-year student
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or refugee
- Have taken minimum 1 Mathematics course in their first year
- ​Have achieved a minimum grade of 80% in Mathematics
- Have shown perseverance and determination in their studies
- Financial need can also be a factor.
Grade-Based Awards
You cannot apply for these awards. If you become a recipient, we will inform you in November.
Berlow Science Prize
This award is given in memory of Peter Berlow, who taught chemistry at ÆßÐDzʿª½± for many years. In creating this award, the Math & Science Council chose to celebrate students who demonstrate Peter's determination to learn, to understand and to aspire to excellence.
​It is given to a Science student who has the highest average in a minimum of six Science courses at the end of first year.
- ​Be a full-time Day science student
- Have the highest average in a minimum of six (6) science courses at the end of first year
Continuing Education Achievement Award
​​Awarded to a Continuing Education student who has the highest overall average during their previous year of studies.
- Be a full-time Continuing Education student (DEC or AEC)
- Have been a full-time student the previous year
- Have the highest overall average in the previous year
- Have obtained a minimum grade of 85%
Mirjehan Janmohamed Award for Science
This award was established by the late Mirjehan Janmohamed, a beloved Chemistry teacher at ÆßÐDzʿª½±.
Given to a student in regular stream Pure and Applied or Health Science based on performance in Chemistry and the overall Science average in first year.
- Be second year Day student in Pure and Applied Science (200P2) or Health Science (200H2)
- Have taken six (6) or more Science courses in their first year (Fall and Winter semesters)
- Have maintained an 85% average or over
- Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
Department Awards
These are awards that are offered to students in certain programs. Some information is here, but the recipient selection is taken care of through each specific department. Please contact your Program Coordinator for more information.
Computer Science
CAE Tech : Program your career! Scholarship
​The CAE Tech : Program your career! initiative encourages future technicians from various fields to start a career at CAE by offering traineeships that are integrated in the workplace.
​CAE will offer the following to two students registered full-time at each participating institution:
- $1,000 scholarship;
- $300 tuition subsidy every semester until program completion;
- paid internship(s) or summer job(s);
- potential on-call contract work during the school year until program completion*;
- potential full-time job offer upon completion of studies;
- mentoring services to guide students during their participation in the program.
Eligibility Criteria:
- ​Be legally entitled to work in Canada;
- Be registered full-time in one of the participating educational institutions (as defined by the institution), and in a technical program of studies in computer technology, avionics or computer networking;
- Be on track to complete their first year of studies;
- Not be failing academically;
- Be recommended by the College
- Be available and able to carry out the traineeships at CAE over the course of the program.
​*CAE prioritizes the trainees' studies and is committed to accommodating their school schedule. In addition, selection of grant holders will also take into consideration CAE's values of diversity and inclusiveness.
Modern Languages
Languages Profile Award
​This award is given to a student who during their first year of studies has excelled academically, but has also distinguished themselves in terms of their active involvement in their program and outstanding effort in their work.
Eligibility Criteria:
- ​Have grades of 80% or over
- Be a current student (preferably in their second year) of ÆßÐDzʿª½±
Nursing
Alumnae Association of the Royal Victoria Hospital Training School for Nurses Scholarship
​This award is given in recognition of clinical and academic excellence, empathetic and therapeutic communications with patients and their families and contribution to Nursing Department activities.

Anne-Marie Howlett Memorial Award
This award was established in 1983 in memory of Anne-Marie Howlett, beloved daughter of Ellen and Michael Howlett. Anne-Marie was an outstanding and valued student of the nursing program who passed away in 1982. This award has been offered for over 35 years.
​Awarded to a Nursing student at the end of first year on the basis of performance, personal qualities and need.

Jennifer Manitt Memorial Award
​This award was established in October 2018 by the family in loving memory of Jennifer Manitt after her passing in March of 2018. Born Jennifer Pratt on July 7, 1951, in Lachine, she was part of the first graduating class of ÆßÐDzʿª½±â€™s nursing program in 1972. She started her career at the Montreal Children’s Hospita, after which she joined the palliative-care unit at the Royal Vic in 1996. She spent close to four decades caring in nursing. The decision to create this bursary was motivated by the excellent care provided by a second year ÆßÐDzʿª½± Nursing student in March 2018 and a tribute to the compassion that Jennifer provided her patients over 40 years.
​Awarded to a second or third year Nursing student who has demonstrated during clinical performance a high degree of empathy, compassion and a gentle bedside manner.

Professional Theatre
Beryl and Willy Moser Theatre Award
​This award was created in 2003 on the occassion of the 50th anniversary of the marriage of Beryl and Willy Moser. Beryl's connection to ÆßÐDzʿª½± is strong, as she was one of the first librarians hired to work at ÆßÐDzʿª½± in 1969 and worked at the ÆßÐDzʿª½± Library for 30 years. Beryl and Willy attended many theatrical productions around the world, including many ÆßÐDzʿª½± productions. Her passion for the theatre led to the founding of this award, which recognizes great acting potential. She remains an active member of the ÆßÐDzʿª½± Community by taking part in many activities, and supporting this award as well as the Rose Pearlman Award for Nursing students.
This award is given in recognition of the Professional Theatre Program student who, at the end of their second year, shows the greatest acting potential.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Be a second year Professional Theatre student
- Have shown great acting potential during their second year in the program

Valerie Marino "Rookie of the Year" Award
​This award is given in recognition of a first year Professional Theatre student who combines team spirit with outstanding acting.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Be a first year Professional Theatre student
- Have demonstrated both team spirit and outstanding acting during their first year in the program

Victor Knight Memorial Scholarship for Perseverance
The Victor Knight Memorial Scholarship for Perseverance is granted in honour of Victor Knight, one of the founders of ÆßÐDzʿª½±'s Professional Theatre Department. He made significant contributions to the lives of actors by teaching and directing at ÆßÐDzʿª½± for over 30 years. He was also president of ACTRA, and helped found the Actra Fraternal Benefit Society to provide healthcare and pensions to performers and writers across Canada. The Victor Knight Memorial Scholarship for Perseverance was established to support a first year Professional Theatre student in their second year of the program.
​Awarded to a first year Professional Theatre student in good standing to provide support for their second year in the Program.
Eligibility Criteria:
- ​Be a first year Professional Theatre Program student
- Be in good standing
- Demonstrate strong perseverance and dedication to the Program despite challenges
- Apply to the Chairperson of the Department by the deadline
